Beloved subscribers, last month we gave you a sneak peak at LaFaro's debut album, this month's free MP3 is from STA new boys Illness. For the uninitiated, Illness is an instrumental two-piece from Brighton with a unique line in math-rock guitar/drum jams. THE Irish rock tour of the year. Currently running riot across the UK. And So I Watch You From Afar tackle their largest headlining run to date, fresh from the release of The Letters EP and ably assisted at all dates by LaFaro. So we're going on our first tour, ever, between 5th-18th April. Time's been booked off work, essays have been finished uncharacteristically early, new merchandise has been ordered and thousands of emails discussing vans have been exchanged.

WE CAN'T FUCKING WAIT!!!

BUT! We have a few dates free where people have cancelled on us or venues have pulled out last minute. I promise you if we can't fill those then we'll upload the most boring videos of us talking about service station sandwiches to the internet. DON'T LET IT HAPPEN! Gum Takes Tooth sound like an absolutely mental version of Health which decided to take all of Brainiac's synths which explains why so many people are rating this band very highly. Support comes from Leeds band Etai Keshiki who are making quite a name for themselves for their abrasive noise rock which is kind of like Black Flag crossed with Melt Banana. Opening are the human RACE put together such diverse influences as the Shadow Ring and Loop to make a very interesting noisy beautiful sound.

In, explode, out. It's the best way of getting your message across should you be sufficiently teeth on edge post-hardcore, and with their twenty minute sets it's something Ice, Sea, Dead People - even they admit they regret that name, but IT'S TOO LATE NOW - understand intimately. The London via Bedford trio take their lead from Fugazi and Q And Not U, twisting taut distorted riffery and hyperkinetic arrythmic understanding into two and a half minute nuggets of splintered, pummelling staccato and most importantly loud art-punk, leaving untold aural damage in its wake. Their debut album, mastered by Bob Weston of Shellac, is out soonish on the reliable Smalltown America, who understand the value of such a thing.

Aptly christened A Primal Scream: angular noise with a twinkle in its eye, also playing the night and recommended by STA are Fangs and Nephu Huzzband.

To celebrate the 2nd anniversary of BBC Introducing: Fresh On The Net on BBC6 Music we present a fortnight of outstanding new songwriters, indie bands and electronic artists at Riverside Studios in Hammersmith, West London from Tuesday 20th October to Sunday November 1st. All artists have been featured on the radio show and have equal billing. All tickets are £6.

So Eddy's in America, and David and I aren't. We're all cool to continue so I'm picking up the six strings and passing on the bass to Jamie.

His first gig with us is in Brighton today at the Hobgoblin, which is FREE. Playing with us are 5 other bands including chums Rodeo Death Burger and a secret act opening the night...
